Going into post-Easter Monday like

Kid A was sugar crushed and emotional this morning. Well, he is emotional every morning. But today he was exceptionally so because Easter is over. Because Easter is only one day long. Because Easter means a seemingly endless stream of chocolate and jelly beans and treats upon treats...and today is not that. Today is just a regular old pre-school day. Today he must eat a breakfast that's woefully free from chocolate and red dye #5. Today he must endure structure and circle time and naps. (Fingers crossed on that last one.)

At least he's not the Easter Bunny. Just look at this sorry sack. He looks like a shag carpet that got left out in the rain. He looks like Alf with Real Housewives level botox. He looks like he needs treatment.

I mean, I can't say that I blame him. Not only is he out of eggs and whiskey and unsuspecting children to frighten, he's out of work. For an entire year. No wonder he's begging for scraps on the corner. It's either that or take out the Tooth Fairy and take over her year-round gig. Granted the extracted bloody teeth exponentially increase the gross factor, but #jobsecurity.

In summary, if there's an important lesson to be learned here (because Monday) I'd say it's that every high must come down, whether its Easter, the drugs EB is currently on or the sugar that's still coursing through my child's veins. My strategy? Treat Kid A's sugar crash like the hangover it is and micro dose him with more sugar until we run out. Which, let's be honest, will be never (because bribes).

I think it should all work out. And if it doesn't, well, there's always next year. And, hey, if you see EB slumming around, toss him a bone. Or a Peep. You know you're not going to eat that thing anyway.
